Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2025
Introduction
Socialdive ("we", "us", "our") operates socialdive.ai and is committed to handling your personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Socialdive, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and a hashed version of your password (we never store plain-text passwords). If you sign up via Google or Facebook OAuth, we receive only the basic profile information those services share. When you use the platform, we log your search activity (Instagram usernames you look up), feature usage, and technical information such as your IP address and browser type. Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect to provide and maintain the Socialdive service, authenticate your account and manage your subscription, enforce daily usage quotas tied to your plan, send transactional emails such as welcome messages, password reset links, and billing receipts, detect abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service, and improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with any third party for marketing purposes.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies to maintain your authenticated session and store your preferences. A session cookie is set when you log in and expires after 24 hours of inactivity. We also use browser localStorage to persist non-sensitive UI state such as countdown timer preferences. For full details, please read our Cookie Policy.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Socialdive: Stripe for payment processing, Resend for transactional email delivery, Contentful for blog content management, and Google and Facebook for optional OAuth sign-in. Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy and may process data independently.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. Search activity logs are retained to enforce daily usage limits and display your recent search history. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption on all connections, hashed password storage using bcrypt, and HTTP-only cookies with secure flags in production. While we take reasonable precautions, no system can guarantee absolute security, and you use the service at your own risk.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of your account and associated data, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@socialdive.ai.
Children's Privacy
Socialdive is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Your continued use of Socialdive following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
